Hitler Finds Out Bryan Stinespring Still Has A Job

I was going to post this to Youtube, but it was removed for a terms of use violation. Figures. There's only about a million of them on there, but the one about Bryan Stinespring is removed immediately. I'm not citing a conspiracy, but after hearing about the way Beamer has control of the press, I guess I'm not really surprised either. So I uploaded it to Photobucket for everyone to enjoy. So here it is: Hitler Finds Out Bryan Stinespring Still Has A Job

*EDIT* Second try got me on Youtube, so we'll see if it lasts.

Has Stinespring Cost Us Bud Foster Too?

Stinespring has cost us a lot this season, as we've seen over at FBS. Has he perhaps cost us one of the greatest defensive minds in the game? I guess we'll find out eventually, but here's my take on it.

If you haven't heard, Bud Foster is a great Defensive Coordinator. In fact, he's one of the best in all of college football. He's always managed to churn out impressive defenses, including this year...I think we rank somewhere around 23rd in the nation, which is a down year for us. Think about that for a second: 23rd is sub-par for Virginia Tech. That speaks volumes about his reputation as a coach and motivator, getting these kids ready to lay the hurt on some unsuspecting offenses. It also seems that every year recently, there are rumors as to where Bud might go if he leaves. Will he stay with us for another year, or leave and go somewhere else? How far will we fall if he does leave? Etc...You get the point. So if you hate hearing that kind of thing, then don't read this article on the subject and stop reading this post now.

Seriously, would you want to piss this guy off?

Still reading? OK, let's analyze this situation: Foster deserves a Head Coaching job. There, I said it, and I think just about everyone will agree with me. He's put in some great years here at VT and for the past few years, helped create the opportunities for VT. How else could we go bowling with the 100th ranked offense or worse? In consecutive years too!! The fact that this season is another offensive downer, that we lost our National Championship chance, that we won't win the ACC or go to the OB, that a 10-win season could elude us for the first time in a little while, means that he may be ready to call it quits with the Hokies. Don't get me wrong, I hope to God Almighty he stays with the Hokies, but the odds keep getting slimmer and slimmer each year the offense doesn't produce. How would you feel if your co-workers or classmates in a group project didn't pull their weight YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR? I imagine that it would be pretty tiring and that if you're going to carry a team on your shoulders, you might as well be the top dog somewhere else and do it. I would want to be, wouldn't you? While he hasn't been named as an interest for the Memphis job, there will be plenty of other coaches being fired this season for lackluster records and poor performances, which is why I think Bud Foster will leave VT within the next two years.

That’s right, I said it. Bud Foster will leave VT in two years or less if things continue to remain stagnant. Where will he go? It’s hard telling right now, but that’s just a gut feeling I’m getting. He’s interviewed in the past for jobs and has turned down offers as well, so what are the odds that the right job comes along in the next two years while the Hokies continue to remain a lower-tier top 25 team? If you said, “Pretty good” then I’m going to agree with you. Our offense is horrendous, starting with the coaching and ending with the coaching. This trend of throwing the kids under the bus really frustrates me, because when you run the same damn play four times in a row and the kid fumbles because he’s being hit by the entire defense five yards behind the line, it’s not entirely his fault (hypothetical situation, but you get my point). What makes a coach think that they aren’t executing? You’re only running maybe 10 different plays in a game, so it’s a little bit harder to gain an advantage when the other team, the team’s fans, the announcers, the mascots, and Tommy know what you’re going to do each down (for those of you who didn’t get it, Tommy was a The Who Rock Musical about a with a deaf, dumb, and blind kid named Tommy. He sure played a mean pinball).

So, maybe, MAYBE if changes are made to reconfigure the coaching staff (read: replace Stinespring) then Foster will stay with us for a couple years, especially if we move from sub-par to elite with a decent offensive scheme and have a shot at a NC. By then Beamer may be considering retirement which would leave the job for Foster or he could hang around like Bowden is at FSU and Foster could still leave VT in the end. Right now, all I can say for certain is that Foster likes Blacksburg and VT football, but not to the point that he would never leave. It could be this year, it could be next, or it could be never if things work out the right way. However, I’m going to stick to my gut feeling and say he leaves in two years or less, citing the fact that he deserves the opportunity to HC and he’s tired of having an inept OC hold him back. I just hope he stays.

Darren Evans might be back for a bowl game

Just to change pace a little, here's an article about our all-star RB last year, Darren Evans. If we can get both Evans and Williams running next year in a two-back system with even half decent playcalling we can make some things happen BCS-wise. The hard part is getting the half decent playcalling.

ECU game

First off, let me say that I never doubted Ryan Williams would have a good game. He was amazing and never quit working hard. That being said, the playcalling didn't help us too much, and I did have my doubts that Stinespring would have a good game. I was right to doubt.

I view most of our yards coming off of broken plays where Tyrod saved us with his legs, or Williams getting hit after a short gain and just kept moving. Yards after contact probably account for 2/3 of our rushing game last night, which means if ECU hadn't missed tackles, we could all be complaining about a loss to ECU right now. Instead, we get to complain about a pathetic-looking win. It got to the point last night where I wrote down four plays (Long pass, run up the middle, run to the short side, quick pass to the flat) and let my girlfriend pick from them each play. She got 9/20 by just guessing, since she wasn't familiar with the formations. That's 45% that she was able to correctly guess right. If she can do it by guessing, I'd think a defensive coordinator would pick up on the playcalling eventually. Where is our intermediate passing game? Where are our TE routes? Wild Turkey to mix it up? Anything would be better than what we've been seeing, because we look like we run out of the Turkey-on-a-Leash formation right now. Stinespring needs to get out of the OC office, that's for sure. But this is where I had some second thoughts about firing him completely.

Remember those years when VT used to dominate a defense and punish them with the run game? Our O-line destroyed just about everyone it came across. So what happened? Stinespring was our O-line coach among his other coaching positions. He got a great O-line that really pushed around a defense, and was able to provide pass protection when we needed it. So Stinespring moves on to other things (ruining our offense) and Curt Newsome comes in to run the O-line. What happens next? Sacks, missed blocks, litte to no pass protection, etc. Not really the best scenario for an OC to try and run an offense.

Another point to consider is this: remember that David Wilson guy? The guy who's bringing back memories of when we recruited that Ryan Williams guy? He's a Stinespring recruit. Bryan Stinespring has been one of the best recruiters for VT, especially considering the offensive woes. I find it amazing that he's able to go out and get a guy like Wilson after coming off of a couple years where the Offense ranks 100th or worse. That's a true testament to his ability to recruit good talent, and I'm beginning to rethink completely letting him go from the team.

So here's my solution:

Fire Curt Newsome
Move Stinespring to head of Recruiting (He used to be this anyway) and O-line coach (give him a raise to make him happy if necessary)
Hire new OC

Everybody wins...I hope. Maybe if Maryland loses some more games Friedgen will be replaced as their Head Coach, and Beamer can hire his long-time buddy as our new OC. We can only dream right?

As soon as I post...

Someone sends me an email. Not that I'm complaining at all, I just found it ironic. I'm going to copy and paste it verbatim so I don't mess anything up.

I have attached my designed tee shirts that are printed on either the front or back so that couples can be seen from either side all the time. I have these for sale for $12 in L, xl, xxl. I hope we can get this idiot outta here. On another note Bud Foster is Louisville's number 1 candidate.

He didn't leave any contact information besides his email, so here's his email: cuzimrw@yahoo.com

Word on the streets

Word on the street is that flyers are going up in several different places. I've seen the ones at McBryde Hall with my own eyes and I've heard reports that they're going up in various dorms across campus. If this keeps up, I would expect to start seeing them downtown in about 1-2 weeks. That's only if it keeps up...I'll try and get some more information about where more flyers are located and see if I can get some pictures up too.

Edit-here's the one from McBryde we've all seen.

First Post of another Fire Stiney blog

I'm choosing to use this to organize the masses so to say. Here are some resources:

Fire Bryan Stinespring Photobucket

This is a photobucket album I just created. Email me your photos and I'll upload them!

Best FBS blog ever!
Probably the best blog you'll find on the topic (way better than this thing I just set up).

Facebook group
The facebook group. Join the paper airplane one too and make paper airplanes out of the flyers!

The Stash
This is probably one of the most important links...the Google Docs site. I can post pretty much any document/picture on this and share it with the world, so email me some things to post!

If I see/hear of any more then I'll update it. These links (and others as they appear) posted on the left, right below me email, which is firestinespringnow@gmail.com in case you're wondering. Look for updates every so often! Finally, a full-sized picture from the flyer:
